Youv'e got questions, we've got answers!

Is this tour primarily for education?
Yes. Our tours are specifically designed as 'Educational Experiences' While the journey is adventurous and the scenery is breathtaking, the core of the experience is a structured, guided lesson on the agricultural and natural resources of our private working ranch. It is an ideal experience for those with a curiosity for the natural world and local history
What is your company's approach to environmental stewardship?
Our commitment to stewardship is central to our operation. To preserve the natural integrity of the ranch, our tours exclusively follow historic, pre-existing ranch roads and trails. We operate under a low-impact model designed to minimize disturbance to the native chaparral and oak woodland ecosystems, allowing for authentic wildlife observation while leaving the landscape undisturbed. Our goal is to educate guests on the importance of conservation in this globally significant biodiversity hotspot.
You mention this is a "working ranch." What does that mean and what might we see?
This 1,200-acre property is an active agricultural enterprise. Our educational tours are designed to be a window into this world. While we can't guarantee specific sightings of ranching activities, the tour passes through historic and current wildlife grazing areas. Your guide will explain how this ranching tradition, started by the legendary Vaqueros, has evolved and continues to shape the valley today.
How physically demanding is the tour? Is it suitable for all ages?
The tour itself is not physically strenuous, as guests are seated for most of the journey. However, the ride explores rugged, unpaved backcountry roads and can be bumpy. We have several planned stops where guests may disembark on uneven ground to get a closer look at the landscape. It is generally suitable for a wide range of ages, but it may not be appropriate for individuals with serious back or neck issues or for expectant mothers. Please contact us if you have specific concerns.
What should I wear or bring on the tour?
We recommend wearing layered clothing, as temperatures can change with elevation and time of day. Closed-toe shoes are required for your safety and comfort during stops. We also suggest bringing sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen, as the tour vehicle is open-air. Most importantly, bring your camera and a curious mind ready for a journey through the region's natural and cultural history.
Are your tours suitable for private groups or corporate outings?
Absolutely. Our small-group format is ideal for private and corporate events. We offer a unique and engaging team-building experience that combines adventure with learning about the local environment, geology, and history. It's a memorable way to connect with colleagues or celebrate a special occasion while exploring the exclusive backcountry of the Santa Ynez Valley. Please contact us directly to discuss arrangements for your private tour.
